Electrodermal Screening EDSComputerized Electrodermal Screening (EDS) devices are instruments which measure galvanic skin resistance. The process consists of the client holding a brass rod in one hand. Then the practitioner or technician touches a certain point on the body (usually the hand or foot) with a stylus (pen type probe) and a measurement is recorded. It is a resistance measurement procedure that is based on "electrical engineering physics." This process is non-invasive (it does not puncture the skin) and does not give shocks.
Medical application of electrical devices started around 1600 and has steadily increased since then. Research identifying a relationship between points on the body and internal organs and functions stems back over 5,000 years to Chinese acupuncture. Dr. Reinhold Voll's work, from 1952 through 1989, established a clear connection between electro-acupuncture points and internal organs, functions and processes. His work is well-documented and researched. To date over 1,400 points have been identified. The international acceptance of acupuncture by most medical colleges lends credence to the validity of this science. In 1979 James Hoyt Dark, MSc., took on the task of computerising EDS and it culminated in the development of a number of systems. The third generation was the Listen System, which came out in 1991 and is considered one of the world's premier EDS systems. In most European countries, Electrodermal Screening EDS is accepted and used as a medical device. In Canada and Australia, it is registered as a medical device. Your practitioner is well trained to use an Electrodermal Screening device in a number of areas. What Can Electrodermal Screening Devices Do?An Electrodermal Screening device offers a number of options for you. It may be used to screen:
Basically, it can perform thousands of processes, and look at the body in a number of ways. Your practitioner is best placed to decide which avenue is best suited for you at any one time. The information and insights can be extremely enlightening. Where Will I See an Electrodermal Screening device?Electrodermal Screening devices are only available to health care practitioners and those under the direction of a health care practitioner. They are used on five continents and have an impressive list of some of the world's leading physicians using them. ![]() All Electrodermal Screening device owners and their technicians are given thorough training on the system and must pass ISEDT certified courses. All courses are established by the International Society for Electrodermal Testing Inc., which is an international society grouping together concerned health care practitioners from around the world. You may find an Electrodermal Screening device in a medical doctor's office as much as in a naturopath's, veterinarian's, dentist's, chiropractor's, osteopath's, homeopath's, herbalist's, acupuncturist's, nutritionist's and so on. All use it in a way to suit their discipline and scope. An Electrodermal Screening device has the potential to look at the body in a way which most other technologies can't and give certain insights to your practitioner to help them assist you to attain optimum possible health in the shortest possible time. Electrodermal Screening is not a diagnostic instrument. It gives information that the practitioner may use in conjunction with other modalities, tests, questionnaires, etc., to assist them in their evaluation.
