Do you feel that you might be suffering from an undiagnosed case of fibromyalgia? Unfortunately it is very true that the multiple symptoms of this ailment can go undiagnosed for many years just simply because there are so many of the symptoms mimic other ailments and disorders — everything from diabetes to cancer to rheumatism.

77So how do you know if you are suffering from fibromyalgia and not something else? Dr. Michael Rahman here to help reveal some of the major symptoms that could indicate that you are suffering from this disorder. . I have developed a checklist of the Top Eight signs of fibromyalgia that afflict individuals who suffer from this painful, dehabilitating condition.

#1 Chronic Fatigue

Before fibromyalgia first got its name it was initially known as “Chronic Fatigue.” The main, prevalent symptom of chronic fatigue is feeling absolutely exhausted all of the time, even though you have ha d full night’s sleep. When people suffer from chronic fatigue, even the smallest of tasks can feel like a huge chore. Fatigue is part of many other major disorders including cancer, diabetes and HIV so it is sometimes overlooked as a symptom of fibromyalgia.

#2 Constant Pain

Individuals who suffer from fibromyalgia are in constant pain. The pain seems to occur everywhere at once or it can seem to migrate from the joints to the muscles and then to the muscles. Many sufferers of fibromyalgia complain that they feel like they have been “beaten up by a baseball bat” when they wake up in the morning. Often this type of pain is misdiagnosed as a symptom or rheumatism arthritis or diabetes. Unfortunately the chronic pain that afflicts sufferers of fibromyalgia also prevents them from getting the exercise that they need to stay healthy.

#3 Insomnia

People with fibromyalgia just simply cannot get enough rest. Often they have free floating anxiety, pain or discomfort that keeps them awake all night. It is also quite common from sufferers of fibromyalgia to suffer from “restless leg syndrome.” Instead of being diagnosed with fibromyalgia, the person is diagnosed with a neurological condition.

#4 Foggy Brain Syndrome

Foggy brain syndrome describes the difficulties with memory and concentration that can be part of having fibromyalgia. Symptoms include difficulty speaking, inability to concentrate, clumsiness and forgetfulness. This can be so extreme that the person can be diagnosed with a neurological disease or Alzheimer’s instead of fibromyalgia.

#5 Migraines and Tension Headaches

People who have fibromyalgia can experience both migraine and tension headaches that can plague them for days. Tension headaches, which can feel like there is a tight band around the forehead and that are often accompanied by severe neck and shoulder pain are quite common in fibromyalgia sufferers.

#6 Nausea and Digestive Difficulties

Digestive difficulties ranging from extreme constipation to bouts of diarrhea are indicative of fibromyalgia as are episodes of lingering nausea that seem to last for many days. Often the symptoms of IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) are very similar to the digestive symptoms associated with fibromyalgia

#7 Sensitivity to Extreme Temperatures

People with fibromyalgia don’t seem to have the ability to regulate their body’s temperature as well as others. They experience bouts of pain and other fibromyalgia symptoms in very cold and very hot weather. This is a condition that is usually associated with Type II Diabetes.

#8 Numbness and Tingling In The Extremities

A symptom that is usually associated with diabetes or Vitamin B12 deficiency, tingling in the fingers, toes, hands arms and face is very common in fibromyalgia sufferers.
