Is it possible to eat foods that actually wreck your metabolism? The answer is yes. There are a lot of foods on the market that contain hormone disrupting chemicals and additives and as most people know by now, your ability to lose weight and fight off inflammation has everything to do with the efficient functioning of your metabolism.
For those of you who are not sure what your metabolism is, it is the process by which the body converts what you eat into energy. During this biological, process the calories that you combine with oxygen and become fuel for your activities. When your metabolism is damaged, your body develops a condition called insulin resistance and converts fuel into fat instead of energy. The result is cravings, fatigue, foggy thinking, water retention, weight gain, wasting muscle and fatty areas on the body (cellulite.)
You can completely ruin your metabolism simply by insisting on eating the following foods and sabotaging all of your weight loss efforts. These are some of the worst culprits when it comes to wrecking your body’s ability to convert fuel into energy.
Microwave popcorn is not that great for you simply because it is made from GMO (genetically modified corn). These type of food is not recognized by the insulin receptors in some individuals and the result is metabolic disorders and weight gain.
Microwave popcorn also causes weight gain because it is high in sodium and contains toxic additives. Eating foods with high sodium levels damages the kidneys and causes water retention.
Yet another drawback of eating microwave popcorn is that it is packaged in bags that contain Prefluoroctanoic acid (PFOA), also known as Teflon. This type of Teflon gets into the popcorn you are eating and into your body causing major hormonal disruptions, weight gain and issues with the immune system.
A Fast Food Hamburger
Fast food hamburgers might seem ike an easy protein fix when it comes to grabbing something quick for lunch or dinner, but the fact is that this quick little meal is quite bad for you. For one thing, the buns contain too much sugar and sodium, which causes bloating and rapid rises in insulin. Unless the meat is organic, grass-fed and not barbecued, it is chock full of the antibiotics and hormones that are given to cows that are bred en masse for food.
Hamburger can also contain red dye and if it is barbecued, the charcoal it contains can cause cancer. In addition, the hamburger that you get in a fast food recipe likely contains bone, cartilage and all kinds of “fillers” that could be anything, that are not that good for your health.
Furthermore, the condiments and sauces used to dress burgers are often also high in sugar and sodium and also corn starch, which turns directly into sugar in your bloodstream and overwhelms your pancreas. When eaten in combination with each other, all of these foods
A Big Bowl of Pasta
Pasta seems like a healthy choice at first, but the problem is that pasta is a simple carbohydrate made from refined flour. Your system is simply overwhelmed at the speed at which just a few spoonfuls of pasta can raise your blood sugar levels into a sphere of insulin intolerance that will have you bloated all night and weighing quite a bit more the next day. If you are already overweight, a big bowl of pasta is one o the worst things that you can eat as the lack of true absorption of the food by the body will have you feeling hungry, tired and craving more carbohydrates just a few hours after you ate it.
