Bad habits are the basic cause of poor health. A healthy lifestyle is one of both moderation and balance. In every situation the extremes of both excess and deficiency are wrong.

The Nutrition of Eating a Healthy Diet for Age-Management

Good nutrition from eating a healthy diet is the foundation of all natural health healing therapies. Better nutrition will improve your personal health without engaging in dietary extremes.

Poor nutrition is the result of consuming too little, too much, or the wrong kinds of food, regularly. Avoiding poor nutrition simply means refusing to eat junk food. The objective of healthy nutrition is to end up with, but not start out with, a perfect diet.

Age-Management can be carried out by these guidelines:

  • Reducing overall fat consumption.
  • Reducing saturated fat consumption to only 10% of total calories consumed.
  • Increasing consumption of fiber and nutrients by eating more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
  • Reducing sugar consumption to only 15% of total calories consumed.
  • Reducing salt consumption to a maximum of three grams a day.

Attitude is about dealing with the reality of existence. Attitude is dealing with other people. Attitude is about dealing with your emotional states from love and compassion to fear and anger. Attitude is having the fortitude to do what you want to do when you want to do it.

Your attitude is a key part of the biopsychosocial holistic model of natural health and age-management. A strong mind, or the capacity to say no, improves a person's health.

You have a healthy attitude only if you believe that the stress in your life comes from how you have chosen to react to the stresses of everyday life, rather than directly from the stressor itself. Stop reacting to stressors, and start acting by plan. In other words, the problem is not with other people, but is within you. You obtain control over your own individual destiny by taking control of your own passions, emotions, moods, urges and age-management.

The goal is not a life without emotion, but a life in which you are always in control by virtue of your ability to use reason: volition to rule both your body and your passions.

The ability to transform disaster into a growth experience and move forward defines the concept of resilience. This dynamic concept of thriving in the face of adversity is a value-added construct whereby challenge provides an opportunity for change and growth.

Resiliency describes your ability to recover from or adjust easily to all the change, stress, and misfortune you experience day by day. The cognitive coping style, or the characteristic way an individual approaches and solves problems, helps to determine individual vulnerability for stress-related disease.

Resiliency is how you plan to remain in control in every aspect of your life. Of critical importance is the fact that these coping skills are learned, not innate; they are processes that are not automatic and may require conscious effort.

The objective of resiliency is to develop the four following skills that effectively deal with the Normal Vicissitudes of Life: knowledge (developing good knowledge of the world you live in), inner resources (developing your set of beliefs, assumptions, and predictions), social support (developing interpersonal relationships) and spiritual beliefs.
